周年的挑战
Even before nineteen-fifties,
六十年前
Some thought weather was getting worse;
风云突变
But other things were on their minds
北辙南辕
Like getting rich and consuming
为富心乱
In more and more profligate ways;
驱鱼为渊
But few sectors shared the concern.
世间忧患与己何干
THINK this with me: remembering
前车之鉴牢记心田
The links each to each two nations
两个民族东西如链环环相连
Whose citizens shared dialogue…
民间对话化解了前嫌
Four decades of development,
四十年的发展
In harmony for the most part…
和谐是条主线
Continue as the earth allows.
如地球在顽强旋转
HEAR this about environment
听听地球对环境的呐喊
When earth cries, “Please color me green;
还我绿水青山
My airy skies are darkening;
天空正变得暗淡
Greenhouse gasses capture the sun;
温室挡住了太阳的光线
My pristine streams have been undone;
溪流不再清澈涓涓
I cannot hear birds calling me.”
鸟儿不再歌声婉转
This is no case of anomie
无规不成方圆
Unless we allow it to be;
我们不再袖手旁观
It is one major example Of needed cooperation
合作的楷模已出现
Between responsible countries;
在泱泱大国之间
That’s what USCF is about.
美中基金会志高道远
Twenty years after exchanges,
二十年的合作连绵不断
The loveliest songs ever sung,
悠扬的歌声美轮美奂
Useful education programs,
双边教育项目的贡献
Transcontinental embracing,
令两大洲亲密无间
Sees America and China,
看大洋两岸
Arm in arm, embracing Nature.
中美携手关爱自然
Forty, even twenty years hence,
再过二十年，
Today’s children deserve to see
今天的孩子们会看得见
Snow glisten on Tibet’s plateau,
瑞雪闪烁在青藏高原
Feel gentle winds which eastward flow,
东风送来和煦的春天
Share with the U.S what they know,
中美两国会相互借鉴
And save the earth we jointly own.
